Ways to Improve Opportunities After High School

A launch event for recommendations and resources. 

Learners face an enormously complicated world of education, service, and workforce choices. What if American education and workforce systems were better aligned? What if learners had the skills to succeed in a quickly evolving economy and could see clear pathways to meaningful, financially secure futures? What if we could meet learners’ needs and support their thriving? 

The Academy convened the Commission on Opportunities After High School, a multidisciplinary coalition of K-12 superintendents, leaders of service organizations, community college administrators, economic researchers, college presidents, philanthropists, and businesspeople to address these issues. They were led by cochairs Nancy Cantor (Hunter College), Harrison Keller (University of North Texas), and Bridget Terry Long (Harvard Graduate School of Education).
