Caroline Genco
Caroline Attardo Genco is Provost and Senior Vice President at Tufts University, where she shapes and leads the university’s academic strategy. She oversees the schools and colleges, crossschool programs, and the education, research, faculty, and inclusive excellence portfolios. She previously served as Vice Provost for Research, enhancing Tufts’ research strategy and infrastructure, and as Chair of Immunology at Tufts University School of Medicine, where she restructured the department to focus on immunerelated disorders and be fiscally sustainable. A nationally recognized biomedical researcher, Dr. Genco is a Professor in the Department of Immunology at Tufts University School of Medicine, holds the Arthur E. Spiller M.D. Endowed Professorship in Genetics, and has authored over 130 scientific publications. Her research focuses on chronic inflammation, the microbiome, and immunemediated diseases, with continuous NIH funding and advisory roles with pharmaceutical companies. Dr. Genco is a graduate of the ELAM leadership program and has held faculty appointments at Emory University, Morehouse School of Medicine, and Boston University. She earned her Ph.D. in microbiology from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry and is widely recognized for her mentorship and interdisciplinary collaborations.
