Professor of History. Writes on U.S. foreign policy, Latin America, genocide, and human rights. Author of a number of prize-winning books, including Empire's Workshop: Latin America, the United States, and the Rise of the New Imperialism (2006), and most recently, Fordlandia: The Rise and Fall of Henry Ford?s Forgotten Jungle City (Metropolitan Books, 2009), finalist for the Pulitzer Prize, National Book Award and the National Book Critics Circle Award. Worked on Guatemalan UN truth commission.
