Kim Bottomly

H. Kim Bottomly is the President Emeritus of Wellesley College. Previously, she served as Deputy Provost for Science, Technology and Faculty Development; Professor of Immunobiology at Yale University (1980-2007). Her research focused on immunobiology, control of effector cell responses by subsets of CD4T lymphocytes, and asthma and allergic diseases. She has published over 175 refereed articles in science journals and holds six patents. She is an elected fellow of the National Academy of Inventors, the Connecticut Academy of Science and Engineering, and was recognized as one of the University of Washington’s Wondrous 100. In addition to recognition for strong leadership in achieving excellence in all aspects of academia, Dr. Bottomly has a long-standing keen interest in science education and women in science. She was an Institutional Trustee at WGBH; chaired the Board of Directors of the Consortium on Financing Higher Education; was a member of the Advisory Council of the National Institutes of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, NIH; and was a member of the Leadership Council of the Yale School of Engineering and Applied Science.  She is currently a trustee of the Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation, a member of the Olin College of Engineering President’s Council, and serves as the chair of the board of trustees of Fulbright University Vietnam.
