A visionary technical leader and an articulate spokesman for information technology. At IBM, he led efforts to bring advanced technologies to the marketplace, including initiatives in parallel supercomputing, the Internet and Linux. Since retiring from IBM in 2007, he's consulted with IBM, Citigroup, HBO, and is currently consulting with MasterCard.  He is in the visiting faculty at MIT and Imperial College, as well as being affiliated with NYU's Center for Urban Sciences and USC's Annenberg Innovation Lab.  A founding member of the National Research Council Computer Science and Technology Board, he co-chaired the President's Information Technology Advisory Committee (PITAC).
