Jason Artman

Mendota, Illinois Public Schools

Jason M. Artman is a Social Studies teacher at Mendota High School in Illinois, where he has taught for over 20 years.  From 2017-2020, Jason participated in a three-year Illinois Civics Mentors program. Sponsored by the Robert F. McCormick Foundation, the Mentors program was created to support the implementation of a civics education law for high schools that was passed in 2015 by former Governor Bruce Rauner.

As a civic mentor for LaSalle, Marshal and Putnam counties, Jason trains high school civics teachers on the state's new social studies standards and how to deal with controversial topics. Jason has developed civics curriculum and service projects.
