Kimberly Williams Brown

Kimberly Williams Brown is an Associate Professor of Education, Women, Feminist and Queer Studies, Africana Studies, American Studies, and Forced Migration at Vassar College. She also serves as Director for Engaged Pluralism and advisor to the college on Inclusion and Pluralism. She is the cofounder and director of the Intergroup Dialogue Collective, a nonprofit that uses intergroup dialogue praxis to engage in critical conversations about race and racism in schools and communities. Her scholarship sits at the intersection of race, gender, and migration. She has cowritten two books, Rise for Racial Justice: How to Talk About Race with Schools and Communities (with Colette Cann and Meredith Madden, October 2022) and Say, Listen: Writing as Care by the Black | Indigenous 100s Collective (October 2023), and authored several papers in journals such as the Journal of Teacher Education (JTE), the AERA Handbook on Black and Indigenous Teachers of Color, The American Indian Research Association Journal, and several others. She holds a Ph.D. and a certificate of Advanced Study from Syracuse University in Cultural Foundations of Education and Women and Gender Studies.
