Michelle M. Wright
Michelle M. Wright is the Augustus Baldwin Longstreet Professor of English at Emory University. Her research focuses on literary, cultural, philosophical, and political discourses on blackness and black identity in the Anglophone, Francophone, and Germanophone African Diaspora, from the eighteenth to twenty-first centuries. Wright’s publications include Becoming Black: Creating an Identity in the African Diaspora and Physics of Blackness: Beyond the Middle Passage Epistemology. She is the coeditor of Reading the Black German Experience: A Special Issue of Callaloo, with Tina M. Campt; Domain Errors! A Cyberfeminist Handbook, with Maria Fernandez and Faith Wilding; and Blackness and Sexualities, with Antje Schuhmann. She also writes for the public media and has published pieces in Ebony, The Chicago Tribune, The Root, ArtForum International, and The Los Angeles Review of Books, as well as other media outlets. Her current project is Afroeuropolis: Understanding Europe through Black Writing.
