Miliband has served as president and chief executive officer of the International Rescue Committee (IRC) since 2013. He is a leading advocate for refugees and a leader in responses to global humanitarian and human rights crises. From 2007 to 2010, Miliband was the 74th Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs of the United Kingdom, in the Labour government of Prime Minister Gordon Brown. In 2006, as Secretary of State for the Environment in Prime Minister Tony Blair's government, he pioneered the world's first legally binding emissions reduction requirements. Earlier in his career, Miliband was minister for schools from 2002-2004; and head of Downing Street's Number 10 Policy Unit, from 1997-2001.
