Co-Founder and Chairman Emeritus of The AES Corporation, a Fortune 200 global power company based in Arlington, VA.  Prior to starting AES in 1981, Mr. Sant was Assistant Administrator for Energy Conservation and the Environment at the Federal Energy Administration.  He was also the Director of the Energy Productivity Center, an energy research organization affiliated with the Mellon Institute.

Mr. Sant is Chairman of The Summit Charitable Foundation and a Regent Emeritus of the Smithsonian Institution.  He was a Regent from 2001 to 2013 and served as their First Chair.  He is Vice Chair of the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History, on the board of the World Wildlife Fund-U.S. (which he previously chaired), and on the board of the National Symphony Orchestra.  He was a Director of Marriott International.

He has a B.S. from BYU and an MBA with Distinction from Harvard Business School.
