Stephen Warren Bosworth

The Honorable Stephen W. Bosworth was the Dean of the Fletcher School. Bosworth was the Dean since 2001 and also served as the Special Representative for North Korea Policy under Obama's Administration. He had an extensive career in the U.S. foreign service with assignments given to only the most capable officers: Ambassador to South Korea (1997-2001), Ambassador to the Philippines (1984-1987). Bosworth also served in a number of senior positions in the Department of State, including Director of Policy Planning, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Inter-American Affairs, and Deputy Assistant Secretary for Economic Affairs. His honors include the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star from the government of Japan. Bosworth died in January, 2016 due to pancreatic cancer.
