Yancey Strickler is Cofounder and former CEO of Kickstarter. Kickstarter has helped filmmakers, musicians, writers, designers, and other creative people raise more than $4 billion to bring more than 100,000 creative projects to life. While at Kickstarter, he also cofounded a resource for artists by artists called The Creative Independent. It publishes insights on the creative process every weekday from people like Philip Glass, Bjork, Big Boi, Stevie Nicks, Adam Curtis, and more than 500 others. Strickler has been recognized as a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader and one of Fast Company’s Most Creative People. He has spoken at the Museum of Modern Art, MIT Media Lab, Stanford, Columbia University, Walker Art Center, the Tribeca and Sundance Film Festivals, and events around the globe. He has also written music for Pitchfork, Spin, and the Village Voice, started a record label called eMusic Selects, and made an app called Micd that lets fans announce NBA games. He is currently writing a book for Viking Press.
