Convening on the Practice of Democratic Citizenship: Special Performances

The day began with a powerful opening performance by Amanda Gorman, the Inaugural Youth Poet Laureate of the United States of America. Her poem, titled "Believer's Hymn for the Republic," focused on the idea of the American dream and the importance of continuing the work of our country's founding fathers.

The Boston Children's Choir closed the day with moving renditions of "America the Beautiful" by Samuel A. Ward and "The Storm is Passing Over" by Charles Albert Tindley.
