Mixtape Brings You Art: When You Want, Where You Are

Share

The Academy’s Commission on the Arts brought together artists, scholars, activists, and leaders, as well as people across the country who participated in listening sessions about the arts in American life, to recognize and support the role of the arts.

The Commission  chaired by actor and author John Lithgow, John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts President Deborah Rutter, and two-time United States Poet Laureate, Natasha Trethewey – produced two reports: Art for Life’s Sake: The Case for Arts Education and Art is Work: Policies to Support Creative Workers.

The Commission also sought to celebrate the arts  to not only study their importance, but to demonstrate it with poems, songs, stories, visual art, dance, and more. Mixtape is an online gallery offering art and inspiration contributed by members of the Commission and the Academy.

Poems, songs, stories, videos, visual art, and more.
